Summary Of Responsibilities

At Urenco USA, the Operator III monitors, controls and operates uranium enrichment equipment and other production-related equipment at Urenco USA to produce enriched uranium while protecting the health and safety of the public and plant employees and preventing damage to plant equipment and structures. Education And Experience

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 10 years of combined related work experience in a technical, chemical, or operations work environment AND/OR education. (Example, BS degree, and 2 years related work experience).
  • Must have at least 6 years of related work experience at an operating nuclear facility performing a related role (Example, operator, maintenance, or RP)
-OR-
  • Qualified Control Room Operator and TPE evaluator at UUSA for at least 1 year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • 10 years of related work experience at an operating nuclear facility performing a related role (Example, operator, maintenance, or RP)
-OR-
  • Qualified Control Room Operator and TPE evaluator at UUSA for 3 years.
  • U.S. Nuclear Navy Qualified Operator or Non-Licensed Nuclear Power Plant Operator, U.S. Nuclear Navy Qualified Watch Supervisor, NRC Licensed Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.

  • Work Schedule:

    Rotating Shift: 12-hour shift, 4 days on, 5 days off - Days/Nights/ weekends/ and some holidays
  • Travel Required:

    10% of the time or less as required.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: CAA Access and a L level security clearance.
  • Emergency Response Requirements:
    Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duty may be required; including being on-call (24/7) during your designated team duty week.
  • Work Environment:
    Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.
Primary Functions
  • Achieve and maintain qualifications as an enrichment plant Operator in accordance with the Urenco USA Operator training program, up to and including Control Room Operator
  • Create/review new procedures and revisions to already approved procedures.
  • Master the ability to provide on the job training (OJT) to Operators in Training, in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
  • Notify Radiation Protection and Chemistry personnel of changes in plant or process conditions that may impact plant radiological or chemical conditions or releases.
  • Accurately perform assigned duties of the Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan (FNMCP).
  • Demonstrate good judgment, decision making, and command and control skills to thoughtfully operate the enrichment plant systems as required to troubleshoot components or systems during off-normal and emergency conditions.
  • Ensure Fire Protection Program requirements are met including minimization of transient combustibles and fire prevention activities.
  • Perform plant Incipient Fire Brigade duties and responsibilities and participate in fire training and drills.

Under minimal supervision and/ or over instruction,

  • Operate enrichment process and plant utility systems and equipment.
  • Perform cylinder handling activities, including connecting and disconnecting Uranium Hexafluoride cylinders at Feed, Product, and Tails stations.
  • Perform Uranium Hexafluoride Blending and Sampling operations.
  • Obtain Uranium Hexafluoride samples.
  • Maintain awareness of plant conditions by conducting thorough Operator rounds and log keeping.
