Position: Senior Software Engineer SCEYE SIM
Location: Moriarty

Sceye is a high-growth technology company, building the next generation of instant communications, imaging and remote sensing infrastructure through stratospheric platforms.

Our lighter-than-air high-altitude platform systems (LTA HAPS) are capable of maintaining position over an operational area in the stratosphere (altitudes of 18 – 21km). They can carry multiple telecommunications, imaging and remote sensing payloads, providing unique functionality, cost, environmental and societal advantages.

Our HAPS be deployed in a matter of days and at a fraction of the cost of traditional infrastructure solutions. This makes them an ideal solution for providing telecommunications connectivity, emergency solutions in the event of natural or other disasters, environmental and infrastructure monitoring, Earth observation and a range of defense applications.

About the Position

Sceye is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the development and evolution of SCEYE-SIM, our simulation and software environment critical to flight systems testing, validation, and mission readiness. This role will play a key part in enabling engineering teams to meet current and future program milestones by improving software scalability, performance, and maintainability across simulation and test environments.

This is a hands-on senior role requiring strong technical depth, systems thinking, and collaboration across avionics, networking, and flight test teams.

What We’re Looking For
  • Design, develop, and maintain software for SCEYE-SIM, supporting simulation, testing, and validation of flight and ground systems
  • Collaborate with avionics, networking, and systems engineers to ensure simulation environments accurately reflect real-world flight conditions
  • Improve software performance, reliability, and scalability to support current and future flight campaigns
  • Support flight readiness activities, including analysis and troubleshooting of simulation and test data
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, coding standards, and best practices across the software team
  • Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing technical guidance and code reviews
  • Assist in de-risking future hardware and software development cycles through thoughtful design and prototyping
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in one or more systems-level programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, Rust, or similar)
  • Experience working with simulation environments, avionics software, or aerospace systems
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and distributed systems
  • Experience working in Linux-based development environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting flight test, aerospace, or high-reliability systems
  • Experience with 3D and geospatial graphics and visualizations
  • Experience with physics modelling and analysis
  • Experience with data analysis, automation, and test infrastructure
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or interns
