About Opto-Knowledge Systems, Inc.

Opto-Knowledge Systems, Inc. (OKSI) develops advanced sensing, imaging, and artificial intelligence technologies supporting aerospace, defense, and scientific applications. Our teams work across engineering disciplines to design and deliver innovative electro-optical systems and AI-enabled sensing platforms that solve complex technical challenges.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Test Technician III to join our team as a skilled, hands‑on contributor to complex hardware testing and validation. This role is well-suited for an experienced technician who can independently execute test campaigns, troubleshoot integrated systems, and support prototype builds in a fast‑paced R&D environment. You'll work closely with engineers and cross‑functional teams on programs that matter.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

  • Independently execute test procedures for components and systems, including functional, thermal, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing; set up and monitor data acquisition systems, log results, and elevate anomalies
  • Identify test failures and assist in root cause analysis; diagnose mechanical, electrical, or cabling issues using schematics, tools, and test data, and recommend corrective actions to engineering teams
  • Perform precision assembly of cables, enclosures, and subsystems; conduct mechanical fit checks, apply RTV, and perform minor machining or rework as needed
  • Support mobile testing and field deployments, including logistics, hardware setup, data collection, and UAS operations at range or real‑world test environments
  • Maintain accurate test logs, redline procedures, and track configuration changes during iterative testing; ensure compliance with safety, ESD, and export control standards
  • Work closely with engineers, production staff, and junior technicians; provide informal mentorship and assist with onboarding or training activities

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong understanding of test equipment, lab safety, and MIL‑STD‑based testing requirements
  • Proficiency reading technical drawings, schematics, and cable runouts
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, hardware rework, and prototype handling
  • Familiarity with environmental test setups and automated data logging systems
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • Valid driver's license required

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing embedded systems, sensor platforms, or ruggedized electronics
  • Knowledge of soldering standards (IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001) and cable assembly best practices
  • Prior support for field testing, flight hardware integration, or customer demonstrations
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, test documentation tools, or quality control procedures
  • Training or certifications in ESD protection, test safety, or high‑voltage handling
Education

Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, manufacturing, or aerospace. 2‑4 years of experience supporting engineering test or production environments.

Work Environment and Schedule
  • Full‑time position
  • In‑office, Torrance, CA
Additional Requirements

You must have, or be eligible to obtain, a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance. You will be subject to government security investigations and must be able to access classified information. The inability to obtain a security clearance will result in you being ineligible for the position.

The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls and must be a U.S. person as defined by 22 C.F.R.
