Position Summary
We are seeking a Network Engineer III to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. The role designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services—including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio‑visual, and IT systems—for federal, local, and commercial customers. This position supports the U.S. Air Force Education and Training Center.
Responsibilities Technical- Survey and report measurement results in actionable form to senior personnel and management.
- Conduct surveys, inspections, tours, and other assessments of client sites as required.
- Identify and resolve network security issues and troubleshoot complex network problems.
- Document crucial procedures and troubleshooting for network operations.
- Assist in identifying and resolving basic/moderate network or telecom issues.
- Interpret and analyze results versus established benchmarks and goals.
- Research available technologies and products as needed by operations or project managers.
- Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices.
- Work closely with field engineers to simulate expected system‑level performance and provide feedback on potential improvements.
- Assist senior network engineers in design tasks, including narrative design documents, system designs, and subsystem designs (CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, hardware, communications).
- Develop network designs for each SLA classification.
- Prepare specifications and perform QA/QC and technical reviews of designs.
- Write and approve test plans, and author testing/commissioning procedures.
- Prepare test reports and commission deployed systems.
- Develop test fixtures and simulation devices; generate standard PITCO plans and procedures.
- Design and perform complete system integration tests.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex network problems while recommending operational efficiency improvements.
- Perform preventative maintenance—software, firmware, and security updates—and schedule performance upgrades.
- Originate and submit maintenance plans and provide rollback plans.
- Serve as backup for team members during paid time off.
- Perform hardware and software upgrades and replacements on existing systems.
- Support a 24/7 on‑call schedule.
- Prepare cost estimates and supporting documents for projects.
- Assist senior engineers in preparing bids, proposal cost estimates, and pricing of change orders.
- Develop documents, procedures, and formal processes for the network engineering team, including project planning and gate checks.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to define work interfaces.
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens eligible for a DoD SECRET clearance.
- Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in network engineering.
- Understanding of ITIL concepts.
- Knowledge of network concepts, technologies, and tools for designing network infrastructure and services.
- Knowledge of system development methodology, project management, system architecture, and analytical/problem‑solving skills.
- Experience reading network and connectivity schematics and plans.
- Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or Arista platforms.
- Proficiency with standard network software:
Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI. - Knowledge of cybersecurity and STIG applications to network systems.
- Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ability to establish working relationships with others outside area of expertise.
- Resourceful, self‑starter, flexible, pro‑active, solution‑oriented, and customer‑oriented.
- Ability to balance high‑quality standards with schedule pressures in a demanding environment.
