"Job Summary

Join us at Urenco USA (UUSA) where we lead nuclear energy innovation. Our state‑of‑the‑art facility in Eunice, NM is the only large‑scale commercial uranium enrichment facility in North America. This position is located on‑site in Eunice, NM, with relocation support available.

Responsibilities
  • Independently perform analysis and design activities to support facility design, engineering programs and projects.
  • Utilize basic and advanced engineering fundamentals to perform owner acceptance reviews of design packages.
  • Support facility design, configuration control, and operation through additional engineering activities as required.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the facility’s design and licensing basis in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Implement the physical inventory program, including planning, coordination and data compilation.
  • Resolve technical problems in accordance with established procedures and vendor documents (e.g., non‑conformance evaluations, operability determinations, quality level determinations).
  • Perform analysis, calculations and design work for assigned facility and engineering programs.
  • Conduct technical and quality reviews of engineering products, including non‑typical documents and 10 CFR 70.72(c) reviews where qualified.
  • Respond to departmental engineering inquiries, interpret specifications and generate project / system strategies.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineering personnel.
  • Lead and coordinate engineering projects, assisting management to resolve high‑visibility issues.
  • Communicate effectively with other organizations to resolve technical issues and implement engineering outputs.
  • Apply sound engineering judgement and professional rigor in all analyses and assigned tasks.
  • Maintain regulatory and schedule compliance for assigned tasks.
  • Apply industrial safety and radiological safety practices in field activities and engineering functions.
  • Provide presentations to senior management on status and performance.
  • Support Urenco Core Values (Safety, Integrity, Flexibility, Development, Profitability).
  • Escalate issues to appropriate management levels in a timely fashion.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or equivalent.
    • 3–5 years of related NCS/ISA work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Completion of a training program in the physics of criticality and associated safety practices (ANSI/ANS 8.26).
    • Experience performing chemical dose consequence analyses.
    • Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering.
    • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
    • 5+ years of related work experience, including 2 years in a nuclear facility.
    • 2+ years at a Part 70 licensee.
    • Design Safety Basis Development, HAZOP, Documented Safety Analysis experience.
  • Essential

    Skills:
    • Criticality Safety, Chemical Dose Consequence or integrated safety analysis experience.
    • Experience in a 10 CFR 70 facility.
    • Monte Carlo code experience (MCNP or MONK) for nuclear engineering candidates.
    • RASCAL, ALOHA or similar computer code experience for other disciplines.
    • Propose and implement changes for the facility.

  • Work location:

    Eunice, NM – Hybrid (75% onsite, 25% remote).
  • Work schedule:

    Professional schedule with minimal night/weekend support. Some nights and weekend work may be required; employees may be called out.
  • Travel: 10% of the time or less as required.
  • Security clearance:
    Controlled Access Area (CAA) and an L or Q level clearance required.
  • Emergency response:
    Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duty may be required, including on‑call 24/7 during designated team duty week.
  • Work environment:
    Radiological exposure expectations < 100 mrem/yr. General office and plant production areas.

Compensation starts at $104,288 – $148,136 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
