Conducts mission/program specific real time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during readiness, execution and evaluation phases. Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, command and control of on-orbit satellites. Provides technical direction for on orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support.
Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data. Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and recommends improvements. Analyzes and validates software performance. Performs flight length orbit adjust and daily special event studies.

The position requires working 12‑hour rotating shifts, alternating between day and night shifts every 28 days (normally 4 days on, 4 days off, 5 days on, 5 days off).
As an Operations Director you will provide overall direction and technical leadership for 24x7 operational activities as well as responses to system hardware and software problems. The OD represents the management team off‑hours and provides direction to the shift engineers as well as calling‑in additional engineering skills to solve more complex problems. Effectively interface with day staff leadership and support integration of future hardware and software deliveries.
BasicQualifications
- Prior operations experience.
- Experience working in a dynamic customer environment and proven customer intimacy skills.
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Must have technical domain knowledge of the program.
- Must have technical leadership experience collaborating across customer and contractor boundaries.
- Current TS/SCI security clearance.
- Full spectrum leadership skills and professional comportment are required at all times.
- Proven technical leadership skills and experience leading other engineers during problem resolution.
- Minimum of 1 current or recent (within last 3 years) operational certification is required.
- Documented supervisory experience.
- Should have experience with multiple operational areas.
- Project leadership skills.
- Proven experience transitioning new systems into an operational environment.
- Risk management skills are desirable.
- Knowledge of the customer’s site infrastructure.
Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00
