Summary of PositionThis position will be under the general supervision of the Natural Resources Rangeland Management Specialist and will report all activities related to this program to the Wildlife & Habitat Division Manager and Natural Resources Department Director. The Rangeland Technician will work with the Rangeland Specialist to manage and maintain rangeland ecosystems. This includes assisting with planning and conducting rangeland health assessments, inventories, resource monitoring, rangeland improvement projects, fencing, identifying and controlling invasive species, collecting and summarizing data, and aiding with the development and revision of rangeland management plans for Santo Domingo Pueblo.
The technician will work with other natural resources staff, Tribal Officials, and rangeland users to develop and implement plans, programs, and projects.
- Bachelor's degree in rangeland management or two plus years of related experience or applicable field of study. Experience working with Tribal communities is preferred.
- Knowledgeable of rangeland ecology, agricultural techniques and principles, preferably with Tribal Governments.
- Experience in rangeland management, ranching, and/or grazing management practices for livestock operations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or related software.
- Must be in excellent physical condition, must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis and sustain prolonged walking and standing.
- Must be able to pass an FBI Fingerprint, background, and reference check.
- Extended working hours, including weekends, are uncommon but may be required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable through the Pueblo's insurance plan.
