Position Summary:
Under supervision of the Adult Day Care Manager, performs a variety of daily duties in support of the Senior Center and Adult Day Care (ADC) program. This position is responsible to assist participants with daily living activities, while helping to maintain the dignity and independence of the participant. This position can be assigned to the Senior Center facility or within homes of Pueblo of Santa Ana elders.
This position performs duties in the care and welfare of Pueblo of Santa Ana elders.

- Greet visitors to the Senior Center in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Support and provide assistance to participants with routine activities.
- Assist ADC participants with daily hygiene, including showers and dressing.
- Assists with daily meal service and activities calendars.
- Assists participants with mobility (walking, moving from one setting to another).
- Assists Adult Day Care staff with monitoring of participants.
- Perform duties such as light housekeeping or cooking when assigned to work in a home or assist with Senior Center facility cleanliness.
- Display sensitivity, empathy and understanding in working with participants and their families.
- Documents notes to client files as needed. Ensures important information regarding participants is relayed to other staff members.
- Work as a team member with all staff to ensure participants are getting the assistance needed.
- Assist in client transports to and from appointments.
- Assists in department activities, events, and presentations.
- Attends ongoing training and in-service training dates.
- Maintains department standards of strict confidentiality on all matters.
- Follows department policy and procedures and chain of command.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Certifications:
- Knowledge of Santa Ana Pueblo traditions, language, history and culture.
- Knowledge and adherence to all pertinent tribal, federal, and state laws.
- Ability to prioritize workloads, maintain confidentiality, and work independently.
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice, and desire to help when dealing with people.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
High School graduate or equivalent education (GED). Must have a positive attitude and be able to work independently. Ability to speak the Keres Language preferred. Must be in good health and free of communicable diseases. Must be willing to submit to health screenings, such as TB testing. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check.
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable under the Pueblo’s insurance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move and transfer 50 pounds or more.
Work is generally performed in a senior center/day care setting with a moderate noise level.
