FIXED TERM / SECONDMENT FOR 3 YEARS

A new and exciting post has arisen in the Research Development and Innovation Division of NHS Highland working across both NHS Highland and NHS Grampian.

A 21.6hpw 0.6 WTE Clinical and Administrative Band 4 post is available and is funded by the UK / Scotland VPAG (Voluntary Scheme for branded medicines pricing, access, and growth) funding to support the growth of commercial clinical trials across NHS Highland and NHS Grampian with an aim of achieving substantial increases in patient participation.

This post will act as the Administrative and Clinical Trials Assistant of the VPAG PERU programme for the North of Scotland. This B4 post will be part of the small team that is being established to support a new model of primary care commercial research in Scotland. This is called PERU – Practice Embedded Research Unit – which aims to support GP Practices to lead commercial trials as a hub with surrounding spoke practices with the support of the VPAG NHS team.

The team will work directly with the finance and governance staff in both Health Boards. The support team will include a B7 lead clinical research nurse and a Band 6 clinical research nurse– these are to be advertised as well. This team will work across NHS Highland and NHS Grampian but will be based in Inverness. There is likely to be substantial travel across the North as part of this post.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
