The Assistant Housekeeping Manager (AHM) supports the Housekeeping Manager in the daily leadership and operation of the housekeeping and laundry department.

This position helps ensure that guest rooms, casitas, public areas, restrooms, offices, and other assigned Resort spaces consistently meet established standards for cleanliness, presentation, safety, sanitation, and guest readiness.

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager provides daily directions to supervisors and team members, conducts quality inspections, supports training and employee development, responds to guest concerns, maintains Lost and Found procedures, assists with scheduling and inventory, and coordinates closely with Guest Services, Maintenance, and other Resort departments.

Effective communication is a key aspect of this role, involving regular coordination with the management team and resort leadership. The role requires a commitment to creating a positive and welcoming guest experience, understanding its significance in the overall success of the resort.

Flexibility is essential, as the AHM must be available for emergency calls during non-working hours. Maintaining a composed demeanor in challenging situations is a priority, ensuring that the resort continues to operate smoothly, and guests have a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong attention to detail, organization, communication, accountability, and a willingness to assist with housekeeping duties when business or staffing needs require.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager with daily housekeeping and laundry operations.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and support to Housekeeping Supervisors and team members.
  • Assign daily work based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, stayovers, staffing, guest needs, and operational priorities.
  • Conduct quality-control inspections of guest rooms, casitas, public areas, and other assigned spaces to ensure Resort standards are met.
  • Ensure rooms are cleaned, inspected, properly secured, and ready for occupancy by designated check-in times.
  • Maintain scheduled cleaning, deep-cleaning, and special-project programs throughout the Resort.
  • Perform Housekeeping duties when staffing levels or business demands require additional support. This includes but not limited to: AM Spa Cleaner, Public Areas Attendant, Room Attendant, Laundry Attendant, etc.
  • Remain flexible and responsive to changes (even for emergency calls during non-working hours) in occupancy, staffing, guest needs, special events, and Resort operations.
  • Work closely with Guest Services regarding room status, special requests, room discrepancies, guest concerns, and room readiness.
  • Coordinate with Guest Services on outstanding housekeeping charges. (i.e. late check-outs, pet fee, smoking fee, missing items, etc.)
  • Coordinate with Facilities to identify deficiencies, submit work orders, and follow up on outstanding repairs.
  • Maintain accurate room-status information and housekeeping reports using the Resort Property Management System and other designated systems.
  • Oversee Resort Lost and Found procedures, including documentation, secure storage, tracking, mailed items, pick-up items, and disposition of items.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests or concerns related to Housekeeping (including Lost & Found) and assist with appropriate service recovery.
  • Monitor guest feedback and recurring cleanliness or service concerns and work with the Housekeeping Manager to implement corrective action.
  • Maintain appropriate par levels of linens, towels, guest amenities, cleaning products, equipment, and housekeeping supplies.
  • Assist with inventory counts, purchasing requests, linen replacement, and monitoring product usage, loss, and shortages.
  • Assist with weekly employee scheduling based on occupancy, operational needs, staffing levels, and labor guidelines.
