Job Summary

Facility CFO – Behavioral Health at Summit Healthcare Management located in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

The Facility CFO is an integral part of the senior leadership team and is responsible for day‑to‑day fiscal management of the facility and for attaining the facility’s operational and financial goals.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements and reconcile all balance sheet accounts in compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare corporate required reports, including the Monthly Operating Report, Monthly Certifications, Corporate Disclosures, and Forecasts.
  • Maintain accounting and business office policies and internal controls to facilitate a clean audit with no material audit adjustments or deficiencies.
  • Ensure all approval processes are in place.
  • Direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle to collect accounts receivable timely and reduce uncompensated care.
  • Strive to achieve goals for cash collections, AR days, and to reduce bad debt and denials.
  • Review revenue cycle metrics to identify and address performance issues.
  • Oversight of Front End Revenue Cycle processes, including insurance verification, patient portion determination, discount/charity approval, and upfront collections logging.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies to ensure accurate facility payment and recording of revenue deductions.
  • Facilitate preparation of required cost reports.
  • Supervise Accounting, Patient Accounting, Health Information Management, Materials Management, and other departments as assigned by the CEO.
  • Lead a highly engaged team through hiring, orientation, performance assessment, management, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Purchasing contracts and monitor purchases to keep supply costs within budget.
  • Prepare the annual operating budget and participate in the annual strategic planning process.
  • Provide ongoing variance analysis from budget and assist the CEO in implementing changes to achieve budget goals.
  • Prepare annual capital budgets and Capital Equipment Requests; record assets and depreciation accurately.
  • Provide financial leadership and guidance to facility managers and train them on financial matters.
  • Offer financial expertise in planning new services, including preparation of pro forma analyses.
  • Participate in managed care contracting and other business development activities to maximize net revenue.
  • Approve or deny computer access privileges and ensure termination of access for employees who have been terminated.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business‑related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of financial management experience (CFO, ACFO, Director of Finance, Controller) in a healthcare setting.
  • Behavioral healthcare experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with a proprietary healthcare system highly preferred.
  • Proven financial analysis skills and strong technical accounting and finance skills.
  • Experience working with information technology and proficiency with software packages including Excel and Word.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications
  • CPA preferred.
Supervisory Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory/management experience in a healthcare setting required.
