Job Description
The American Red Cross is seeking a Mobile SAF Specialist to provide services to United States military members, veterans, and families at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. The role requires meeting strict medical and security clearances and worldwide deployment. Mobile staff typically deploy for six months at a time, roughly once every 18–24 months. Relocation assistance is only available for current employees within a 50‑mile radius of the division.
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain strong relationships with military leadership, community leaders, and key organizations.
- Develop and implement local needs assessments and Volunteer Program Plans; recruit and train leadership volunteers; manage volunteer engagement programs.
- Coordinate services to military treatment facilities and VA hospitals, ensuring delivery of rehabilitation programs, material assistance, resiliency training, and morale items.
- Supervise volunteer service delivery staff and ensure consistent delivery of SAF and IS U.S. services.
- Plan and execute community outreach activities, including command meetings, education briefings, presentations, workshops, special events, and projects supporting SAF/IS initiatives.
- Manage financial and reporting responsibilities: develop and manage budgets, monitor expenditures, report outcomes, and recommend continuous improvements.
- Support the emergency communications center and provide family follow‑up information and referrals.
- Maintain readiness for emergency, surge, and disaster situations, completing all required trainings and participating in readiness drills.
- Develop and implement local needs assessment and Volunteer Program Plan through established processes.
- Recruit and train leadership volunteers to support placement, supervision, training, and program delivery.
- Use the Volunteer Connection Platform to manage, document, train, recognize, and communicate with volunteers.
- Supervise volunteer service delivery staff.
- Coordinate services to military treatment facilities and VA hospitals.
- Ensure community outreach, command meetings, presentations, and workshops.
- Implement special events and projects supporting SAF/IS initiatives.
- Manage support services to military members and families, including follow‑up and referrals.

- Develop outreach strategies to promote International Services U.S. programs.
- Develop and manage budgets and expenditures to keep programs within budget.
- Monitor and report on program outcomes and results, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, human resources, community organization, social or health sciences, or related field; equivalent experience acceptable. - Experience:
Minimum five years of related program management or equivalent experience. - Skills:
Strong computer, public speaking, verbal and written communication; interpersonal skills; ability to work independently or in a team; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; familiarity with military culture, regulations, and protocols; experience with American Red Cross programs desired. - Mobility: U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain a secret security clearance and a no‑fee U.S. passport; worldwide deployment required; acceptance of assignments worldwide, including conflict areas; compliance with medical and physical requirements; willingness to wear military uniforms and live/work in harsh environments; ability to deploy with military forces.

Meet strict medical and security requirements and maintain required immunizations.
Work requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, and move light to medium weights up to 20 pounds; good hand‑eye coordination and finger dexterity; ability to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read technical information; overall mobility essential.
