Control Room Operator – Combined Cycle Power Plant
Hobbs, NM
$59 per hour, matching 401K, PTO, Medical, Sick pay
12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights, weekends & holidays)
A leading clean energy operator is seeking a Control Room Operator to support the safe, reliable operation of a combined-cycle gas turbine power plant
. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for real-time monitoring of plant systems, alarm response, and supporting startup and shutdown activities.
This is a hands-on operations role ideal for an experienced plant operator with strong safety awareness and a solid understanding of combined-cycle power generation.
Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and operate combined-cycle plant systems from the control room.
Respond to alarms, abnormal conditions, and system events.
Support plant startups, shutdowns, and operational transitions.
Maintain accurate operating logs (output, emissions, fuel, water, heat rate).
Support maintenance activities including LOTO, troubleshooting, and work preparation.
Promote and enforce all safety, permit-to-work, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in emergency response and continuous improvement initiatives.
Prior experience as a Control Room Operator or equivalent in a power generation facility (combined-cycle preferred).
Strong knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, and process controls.
Experience reading P&IDs, schematics, and operating procedures.
Familiarity with water chemistry, chemical handling, and plant safety systems.
Strong communication skills and ability to work rotating shifts.
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Technical or Associate degree preferred.
Must be physically capable of plant work and authorized to work in the U.S.
