Job Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Shift Lead directs and assists in the work activities of production employees.
Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed
- Distribute safety on-the-spot award points
- Perform accident investigations
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality standards
- Knowledge of machines including their limitations
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
- Ability to accurately use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers
- Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions
- Ability to correctly retrieve and input data in a computer
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Critical thinking skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to routinely climb stairs, ladders, or platforms
- Ability to routinely twist, bend, and squat
- Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to repetitively reach and grasp
- Ability to frequently lift, push, and/or pull up to 50lbs

Education and ExperienceA high school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of Steel Technologies machine operator experience is preferred. Forklift and/or crane certification is required. Formal education may be substituted with experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.
Working ConditionsThis is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment processes. The temperature of the facility will vary based on the outside weather conditions. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance and may include overtime as deemed necessary by management.
