Centre for Financial Accountability (CFA) is a non-profit organisation based in New Delhi. CFA engages in critical analysis, monitoring and critiquing the role of financial institutions – national and international, and their impact on development, human rights and the environment, amongst other areas. We primarily focus on India, partnering with a range of civil society groups, social movements and community groups and trying to ensure that financial institutions are transparent and accountable to the people they exist to serve.

We produce information resources and policy analysis for a range of different readership – civil society, grassroots movements, general public, media houses, policy makers and parliamentarians. Our awareness programmes work towards demystifying finance through increasing public awareness and encouraging public debates about issues of financial accountability. Our outreach seeks to engage policy makers in discussion and debate, encourage the media to highlight issues of finance affecting the public, and work with civil society across India and the world, to hold the financial institutions accountable for their actions.

We are seeking a passionate Energy Finance Researcher and Campaigner to support research, public engagement, and campaign work on critical financial, ecological and justice issues related to fossil fuels. The role will involve working across themes such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, plastics, pollution, climate, finance, public health, and communication around harmful development projects and models.

The candidate will help design and deliver research-driven campaigns, build relationships with affected communities, allied organisations and relevant institutions, and support public communication that translates complex issues into clear and compelling narratives.

The Role

The role brings together research, stakeholder engagement, and campaign strategy to enable impactful environmental conversations and action. As an Energy Finance Researcher and Campaigner, you will support the development and execution of research and campaigning projects from start to finish. This includes conducting primary and secondary research, mapping stakeholders, engaging with communities and bureaucrats, creating campaign materials, and supporting public outreach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct primary and secondary research on assigned environmental, financial and climate issues.
  • Map stakeholders, institutions, and power relationships.
  • Support campaign planning, strategy, and execution.
  • Draft campaign materials, including emails, briefs, letters, decks, reports, and public-facing content.
  • Engage with communities, civil society organisations, decision-makers, and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake field visits and community consultations to understand on-ground realities.
  • Help organise workshops, public meetings, seminars, and awareness activities.
  • Contribute to alliance-building and coalition work.
  • Support communications work such as newsletters, blogs, articles, and social media content.
  • Track progress and report outcomes clearly to the team.
