Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist, Oncology – Brooklyn/Queens, NY

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a field‑based role within BMS’s unique customer model. The TAS drives demand for BMS medicines, engages health care providers (HCPs) with a differentiated customer experience, and exemplifies BMS values while prioritizing the safe and appropriate use of BMS products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Promotion
    • Promote approved indications of BMS products in the assigned territory to meet or exceed sales targets while remaining compliant.
    • Create demand for BMS medicines through balanced scientific and clinical narratives tailored to appropriate patient populations.
    • Maintain and grow a high level of scientific expertise across assigned products and therapeutic areas.
    • Prepare and implement comprehensive territory and account plans.
    • Proactively use tools such as CE³ to derive insights and inform dynamic call planning.
    • Provide feedback on tool usage to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue
    • Demonstrate scientific expertise and passion using approved scientific resources and publications.
    • Conduct in‑office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discuss product‑related scientific information consistent with the label.
    • Organize external speaker programs, selecting speakers from the approved list and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
    • Maintain expertise on emerging data for approved indications.
    • Engage real‑time medical support through Medical on Call to address unsolicited questions.
  • Cross‑functional Collaboration
    • Proactively collaborate with other field teams to ensure the best customer experience for HCPs.
    • Gather and share relevant insights and information internally with appropriate stakeholders.
    • Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies governing the conduct of BMS.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nurse roles.
  • Excellent communication of scientific or clinical data to HCPs to help physicians best serve patients.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong credibility with key customers and the HCP influence network.
  • Experience in Hematology/Oncology is required.
  • Demonstrated account‑management skills, superior selling competencies, and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross‑functionally within a team mindset.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills proven through performance history.
  • Eligibility for company‑provided vehicle operation requires a qualified driver with a valid license in good standing and an acceptable risk level.

Compensation Overview

Field – United States – US: $144,500 – $175,100. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. Final individual compensation will be determined by demonstrated experience.
