Position: SUPERVISORY METEROLOGICAL TECHNICIAN (OPERATIONS) with Security Clearance
Location: Cannon Air Force Base

Duties
* Performs first level supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
* Plans, organizes, directs, and oversees program and resource management activities.
* Provides mission-tailored meteorological products and services.
* Represents weather unit in a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
* Conducts meteorological watch to maintain situational awareness of the location, intensity, movement, and development of significant weather features that could impact supported air and ground missions. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* May be required to work rotating shifts, irregular hours, and be subject to recall to support unscheduled weather requirements at any time.
* Work requires access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft that may include travel within and outside the continental United States (CONUS).
* Visual acuity correctible to 20/20.
* Must meet all requirements of E-E positions and may be required, as a condition of employment, to take a series of vaccinations and annual boosters to immunize against anthrax and other diseases.
* During a crisis, the incumbent or designated alternate must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The same will be required to take part in readiness exercises.
* This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively.
* This meets the criteria of an E-E position and requires that the incumbent or designated alternate to be removed from any military recall status.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* Incumbent is subject to a one (1) year supervisory probationary period if this requirement has not previously been completed. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1341, Meteorological Technician Series.

SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-10, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes measuring meteorological phenomena with scientific equipment and instrumentation; observing and recording atmospheric characteristics, i.e., temperature, air movement, visibility, pressure, air density, cloud types; decoding, plotting, and systematically recording data related to the physical characteristics of the atmosphere, i.e., charts, diagrams, cross sections;

and collecting, analyzing, interpreting, adjusting, and verifying atmospheric and other meteorological data to confirm and improve accuracy and efficacy as well as applying meteorological methods, techniques, and…
