Job Summary
Reserve Deputies are volunteer community members who assist our full‑time deputies on patrol, community events, critical incidents, crime scenes, and more. Extensive training and all equipment are provided.
Responsibilities- Assist full‑time Deputies on patrol.
- Support during community events.
- Provide help at critical incidents and crime scenes.
- United States citizen.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license and clean driving record.
- No felony convictions, DUI, or other significant offenses.
- Not dishonorably discharged from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Able to commit to a 6‑month Reserve Academy and to meet the post‑training requirement of at least ten on‑duty hours and two training hours per month.
The Reserve Academy lasts approximately six months, with classes typically held every Wednesday night and every other Saturday. After graduation, the minimum requirement is ten on‑duty hours and two training hours per month.
Uniform & Appearance PolicyAll uniformed personnel must present a professional appearance. Non‑prohibited tattoos may be displayed on arms while on duty, but tattoos on the neck, face, scalp, or below the wrist are prohibited. Visible tattoos may be photographed for background screening. All candidates must comply with this policy.
