- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives and safety standards.
- Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders.
- Monitors conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
- Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
- Provides restraint of violent patients as needed.
- Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students and visitors as it pertains to safety.
- Escorts personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings.
- Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities.
- Secures, records, and issues patient valuables.
- Attends meetings as required.
- This position will require heavy lifting of greater or equal to 50 pounds for more than 33% of their shifts in situations where self-defense is deemed necessary.
- May be required to assist with lifting of patients, visitors and or staff.
- May be required to assist in lifting of deceased persons.
- Capable of defending self and other within violent incidents.
- Assist medical staff in the restraint of violent, agitated and or hostile persons.
- Capable of long periods of standing and foot patrols.
- High school (G.E.D.).
- Less than one year experience in security.
