Heavy Equipment Service Technician - Rotational Shift in Lake Charles LA, Houston, TX

Job Type: Full-time

The Heavy Equipment Service Technician will be responsible for servicing and repairing Caterpillar heavy equipment at Lake Charles, Louisiana branch or surrounding customer sites.

We offer flexible, rotational shift schedules designed to fit your lifestyle, including 14 on/7 off, 14 on/14 off, and 28 on/14 off. Housing is provided while on shift for out-of-state candidates living 100+ miles from their assigned branch. We are currently searching for technicians for our Lake Charles, LA location.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all components of heavy equipment such as electrical codes, engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, power generation and power trains.
• Remove and install heavy equipment engine components according to Caterpillar standards and technical service manuals.
• Understand Caterpillar exchange parts process and financial cost analysis of repairs for customers.
• Create, track and formalize work order documents on our Caterpillar customer service report software systems.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in diesel mechanics preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Extensive knowledge of diesel engine systems, including diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.
• Must own required tool inventory. Louisiana Cat offers exclusive Tooling Program (specifics discussed during interview).
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, professional demeanor, and a safety‑first mentality every hour of every day.

• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; some Saturday shifts required. 40+ hours a week.
• Physical Demands: Standing, handling, lifting up to 75 pounds, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, operating wrenches and tools, climbing equipment, operating a field service vehicle with GVW less than 26,000 lbs.
• Work Environment: Indoors around moving mechanical parts, weather extremes outside, noise, chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, high-speed rotating equipment, protective gear required, cramped spaces, loud noise during operation.
