This position is responsible for performing various job tasks on hazardous and non-hazardous waste sites, including manual labor in various weather conditions and potential exposure to lead, PCBs, H2S, arsenic, and other chemicals. The role requires frequent and extended travel to project sites and comfortable use of PPE.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform tasks involving physical labor at earthmoving, remediation, heavy construction projects, and demolition sites.
  • Operate and maintain hand, power tools, and equipment such as high‑pressure washers, electric power tools, abrasive wheel tools, pneumatic tools, liquid fuel tools, hydraulic power tools, skid steers, pumps, compressors, generators.
  • Clean construction site to eliminate possible hazards; lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks or trailers; signal equipment operators for alignment, movement, and adjustment.
  • Build fencing, dig trenches, set braces to support excavations, clean rubble and debris; paint and perform other labor‑intensive tasks.
  • Welding, cutting, or brazing; work in confined spaces (including permit‑required confined spaces).
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing Job Safety Analyses, observations, and reports; promote use of Stop Work authority.
  • Work independently and as part of a team; meet deadlines and contribute to a positive, safe, high‑quality culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Visual Activities Required
  • Climbing, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, balancing, walking, stooping, squatting with considerable use of hands, arms, and legs.
  • Manipulating tools and equipment; operating machines; standing, walking, riding, sitting.
  • Fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, hand‑to‑eye coordination; detecting color differences; visual tracking; depth perception.
  • Frequent, precise adjustments of machine controls; knowledge of tools, equipment, and their hazards.
  • Reading and understanding written documents; listening and communicating information in speaking.
Physical Demands
  • Mostly standing or walking; capable of working under heat and cold stress during various weather conditions and long workdays.
  • May use respiratory equipment; heat extremes while wearing PPE.
  • Work on elevations such as scaffolding, bridges, buildings.
  • Expected to lift objects 1–25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual labor including materials handling, digging, and moving pumps, hoses, equipment.
  • Work in loud environments.
Environmental and Atmospheric Conditions
  • Rugged terrain; dusty, windy atmospheres; confined spaces.
  • Potential airborne exposures to dusts, mists, fumes, vapors within OSHA limits.
Personal Protective Equipment

Hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, face shield, welding helmet, safety vest, gloves, steel‑toed boots, respiratory protection (dust masks, full‑face respirators, SCBAs, PAPRs) and appropriate coveralls.

Qualifications
  • Must possess skills to safely operate equipment, tools, and mechanical devices.
  • Previous construction and/or hazardous waste work experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • HAZWOPER 40‑hour training and current refresher required.
  • Must be able to work in hazardous conditions and wear PPE.
