Electrical Maintenance Technician (Maintenance)

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting the electrical and mechanical systems that keep Taos Ski Valleys facilities and mountain operations running safely and efficiently. This position performs scheduled and preventative maintenance, responds to electrical and equipment issues, and maintains systems including electrical distribution, transformers, motors, lighting, heating, control and drive systems, and other mountain electrical equipment.

The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to read electrical schematics, and experience with low- and high-voltage systems, motor controls, variable speed drives, PLCs, sensors, and related equipment. The technician must adhere to all applicable safety standards, regulations, and company policies, including NEC, OSHA, ANSI, and New Mexico Ski Safety requirements, while prioritizing the safety of guests and employees.

The position requires a Journeyman Electrician License, valid driver's license, and at least two years of electrical and/or maintenance experience, as well as the ability to work effectively at high elevations, in inclement weather, and on steep mountain terrain. Responsible for maintaining an enthusiastic and professional work environment consistent with the policies of Taos Ski Valley, Inc. resulting in high employee morale and motivation and guest satisfaction in an atmosphere of continuous improvement. Work closely with all departments and become an active resource for guest and employee safety issues. Provides a guest experience that exceeds the guests expectations. Assist in assuring the operation of the facilities in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the National Electrical Code (NEC), the United States Forest Service, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), TSV Liability Insurance policy and company policies and procedures. Responsible for maintaining facilities and other mountain electrical systems including control and drive systems, distribution centers, transformers, power, lighting, and heating.

Executing scheduled annual, monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment, reporting,repairing, or replacing as required. Locate sources of problems by observing electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; and checking for issues. Responding to and determining the cause of electrical problems and implementing solutions by repairing or explaining problems and solutions to the operator. Response and correction of the problem to be completed as quickly and safely as possible with the publics safety, and your own safety being the highest priority.

Implementing and ensuring compliance with all Company, State, and National safety policies and procedures. Remove defective parts, using proper tools; examine and diagnose the cause of failure and correct the condition. Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and supplies inventory and conserve resources by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate equipment parts and supplies and use equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Assist Manager/Supervisor with the parts and supplies ordering needs. Help with the planning and implementation of ongoing training and procedure updates. Have complete working knowledge of the Ski Safety Act and its application to our ski mountain. Other duties as assigned.

Previous electrical maintenance experience. Must be able to read electrical schematics and understand symbols and many different manufacturer schematic layouts. Must maintain OSHA requirements, as well as the National Electrical Codes. Must be able to use test equipment to troubleshoot all types of electrical systems. Frequent testing on energized 480 VAC, 240

VAC, 120

VAC, and 24

VDC circuits is required. Working knowledge of all types of electrical equipment including AC motors and motor control, AC variable speed drives, DC motors, DC variable speed drives, battery powered low voltage 24
