Maintenance Worker, Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

Duties

• Perform a variety of maintenance, repair and operational duties for the park office to which assigned.
• Apply a variety of standardized methods, procedures and techniques to maintain and repair equipment.
• Inspect circuit breakers and fuses for proper condition and size, replacing defective breakers.
• Weld similar metal components together to fabricate or repair equipment.
• Construct, install, repair or modify items and structures.
• Repair, replace and maintain such things as pipe, tile, union joints, faucets and drains.
• Dam operation:
  Collect humidity, temperature and wind velocity readings from weather instruments. Make gate settings to regulate outflow of water. Perform routine maintenance and repair.
• Operate a variety of vehicles and vessels.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The incumbent must possession or have the ability acquire the following licenses: a state driver's license; a Corps of Engineers boat operator's license; and a forklift operator's license
• The incumbent may need to work nights and/or weekends.
• The incumbent is required to work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.)
• The incumbent may be required to have a valid CPR certificate and first responder (or equivalent) certificate.
• The incumbent may be required to obtain a water treatment plant, Class I or II, operator's license.
• The incumbent may be required to work in both non-permit and permit required confined space and implement proper rescue and entry techniques.
• The incumbent may be required to be properly trained and/or operate the following equipment:
  Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs), escape packs, atmospheric monitoring devices and fall protection equipment.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
• The incumbent will be required to wear prescribed uniform as identified in regulation ER 1130-2-550, dated 15 November 1996.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have experience performing common maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and/or other appurtenant structures and property under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure they are properly performed.
