SUMMARY: The Clinical Social Work Supervisor works with the Director of Exceptional Programs to provide oversight, clinical supervision and consultation to LMSW social workers. In addition, the Social Work Clinical Supervisor offers periodic training and consultation to PreK staff and parents regarding students’ social, emotional and behavioral progress and challenges.

SUPERVISION: The Clinical Social Work Supervisor works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of the Director of Exceptional Programs. The employee’s work is governed, controlled and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, and provisions of Taos Municipal Schools district policies and procedures, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clinical Supervision:
    Provides a minimum of one (1) hour of individual weekly clinical supervision to LMSW social worker(s) as required by the New Mexico Regulatory Licensing Board. Approval of Case Notes:
    Reads, approves and provided feedback on LMSW social workers Medicaid case notes on a weekly basis. Consultation to LMSW Social Workers on IEPs and Social Work Assessments:
    Provides constructive feedback on Social Work Assessments, ICD-10 Code diagnoses and IEP goals, Present Levels of Performance and Progress Notes as needed.
  • Advises social work supervises, teachers, administrators, and staff regarding student social, emotional, and behavioral progress. Initiates and maintains adequate office records.
  • Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.

Minimum Qualifications and Licensure: Education:
Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited program. Licensure:
Valid New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) license with a School Social Work endorsement, alongside a high-level independent clinical license (LISW or LCSW) issued by the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners.

Experience:

  • Advanced placement on the New Mexico three-tiered licensure framework requiring proven years of specialized school or clinical practice.
  • Candidate must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with diverse populations.
  • Successful completion of a master’s degree in social work and required certification as an educational staff associate in social work AND be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the State of New Mexico.
  • Level III School Social Work License issued by the New Mexico Public Education Department Demonstrate knowledge of current trends in the field of clinical social work with emphasis on schools. Demonstrate ability to use conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply and effectively utilize a variety of evidence-based school social work strategies.
  • Strong assessment, analytical and diagnostic skills. Demonstrated ability to relate in a positive way with students, staff, parents and the community.
  • Demonstrated skills in human relations including demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and concerns of others. Understanding of unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual characteristics of students.
