Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Demonstrates strong content knowledge and understanding of child development, including age-appropriate characteristics. Designs and delivers instruction aligned with district curriculum, ELD and Common Core State Standards, and best practices, with particular attention to English language learners and bilingual students.

* Creates a respectful, engaging, and well-managed learning environment that maximizes instructional time and supports positive student behavior. Clearly communicates learning expectations and differentiates instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

* Uses effective questioning, discussion, and instructional strategies to actively engage students. Utilizes formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress, provide meaningful feedback, and adjust instruction to support student growth in both native language and English.

* Demonstrates flexibility, responsiveness, and reflective practice to improve instruction and ensure student success. Collaborates with classroom teachers, parents, and community agencies to support English language acquisition and student transition from native language to English.

* Maintains accurate records and communicates student progress to families in a timely and culturally responsive manner. Participates in Professional Learning Communities, meetings, committees, and ongoing professional development.

* Demonstrates professionalism through ethical conduct, integrity, appropriate attire, and consistent attendance. Performs additional duties as assigned in accordance with district policy, collective bargaining agreements, and Board of Education guidelines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Holds a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university

* Meets all current licensing requirements including endorsement(s) in the appropriate teaching areas,

* Must demonstrate verbal and written proficiency in the specified non-English language area Must be familiar with the CELP standards and how to align them with the Common Core State Standards

* Preference will be given to individuals who are trained in the execution of other appropriate assessment measures for non-English speaking students, LAS Link

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Collaborate with teachers in effective instructional strategies to support multilingual learners

* Communicates effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills;

* Demonstrates effective collaboration skills;

* Employs effective coaching skills;

* Exhibits knowledge of standards-based curriculum;

* Integrates technology into classroom instruction;

* Participates in workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced coursework which further advance knowledge of current trends in TESOL instruction;

* Uses effective strategies for differentiating instruction and;

* Utilizes effective data-based, problem-solving skills.
