Custodian - Night

Full-Time Night Time Custodian

New Milford Public Schools is seeking a Full-Time night time Custodian. Hours are 2:30pm to 11:00pm. Salary is per Custodial bargaining unit agreement. It is necessary that candidates complete an online application and supply at least 2 signed, current and dated letters of reference which must be uploaded to your online application. Must have: some knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment typically used in janitorial work.

Ability to understand and perform simple oral and written instructions. Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform a variety of routine custodial tasks in the care and limited maintenance of buildings and equipment.

General statement of duties include but are not limited to: scrubbing, mopping, waxing and polishing floors; dusting and polishing furniture; washing windows, woodwork, disinfecting washrooms, toilets and fixtures. Moving office and institutional furniture and equipment from place to place as directed. Collecting and disposing of rubbish; replacing burned out light bulbs; assisting in making simple repairs to building and equipment. Sweeping, shoveling and salting sidewalks, and performing other minor maintenance tasks, picking up indoor and outdoor litter, performing security functions of buildings and other tasks as directed.

Performing moderately heavy manual work in cleaning and caring for public buildings and institutions; performing related work as required.

Compensation & wage range disclosure:
In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes 31-40z (Wage Range Disclosure), hourly wage rates and step placement for this position are established pursuant to the Custodial and Maintenance Wage Schedule set forth in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the New Milford Board of Education and Teamsters Local Union No. 443 (Custodial & Maintenance Employees). Position-specific contractual shift differentials, trade license stipends, and boiler inspection stipends apply as designated in the agreement.
