The Early Childhood Teacher Corps (ECTC) is designed to support school readiness of vulnerable children while offering a pipeline into the early education profession. Partnering with early care and education programs, the Early Childhood Teacher Corps will serve in the Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge regions who are interested in pursuing a career in early education. As an ECTC member, you will serve as both a classroom support and a participant in the Child Development Associate (CDA) certification program.
In the classroom, you will assist Lead Teachers in creating safe, nurturing, and engaging environments, supporting lesson plans, and documenting children's progress. At the same time, you will complete required CDA coursework, trainings, and portfolio work, applying your learning directly to your daily work with children as you progress toward certification. Member Duties :
Classroom & Teacher Support
- Assist and collaborate with the Lead Teacher to provide developmentally appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children. Maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
Support the planning and implementation of daily lessons and educational activities.
Monitor, document, and report children's progress, milestones, and behavioral observations. CDA Program Participation Meet weekly to complete all CDA coursework, assignments, and assessments within the program timeline.
Participate in all required training sessions, professional development workshops, and reflective coaching meetings. Demonstrate application of CDA learning in the classroom setting. Service Expectations-Members are required to serve Monday
- Friday and must be available between 8a-5p each day. Meet program attendance, participation, and progress benchmarks for the service term.
