Engineering Technician

Position Summary:

This position is great for an engineering technician who loves the craft beverage industry and who is excellent at drafting in 3D. You'll help draft 3D models for the design and engineering of our projects and product offerings, which include all production equipment used in craft beverage production plants, such as milling equipment, brewhouses, cellar tanks, heating sources (low-pressure steam boilers, forced-air burners, and electric heaters), glycol chillers, and packaging equipment.

Occasionally, you might need to oversee the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of various equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Draft P&IDs, plant layout drawings, product design drawings, product manuals, and fabrication drawings in 2D and 3D CAD, laying out, and specifying technical devices, parts, and equipment, primarily using AutoCAD and Solid Works. Work with brewers and the engineering team to provide equipment recommendations and to provide advice on the use of products. Occasionally travel to job sites for installation and repair.

Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements. Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information. Help develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs. Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move heavier weight necessary cific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, in some instances, this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Must have significant experience drafting in 3D using either Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor. Must have an understanding of basic mechanical engineering principles and calculations and a general understanding of process engineering, tank fabrication, gearboxes and motors, electrical control boxes and automation, cooling/heating systems, and sanitary fabrication standards, particularly in the food and beverage industry. Relevant technical experience or significant education in any of the following fields: pressure vessel design, process engineering, electrical engineering, automation and controls, pipe and plant design, and/or sanitary design.

Other Desired Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Engineering or related technical degree or equivalent experience knowledge of beverage production, brewing, and/or packaging processes a plus commercial brewing experience or experience in a relevant engineering role preferred forklift, rigging, OSHA safety, first aid / CPR, welding, hazmat, confined space entry, electrician, steam, plumbing, PLC programming, quality assurance, or other certifications relevant engineering experience or significant education related to food and beverage processing equipment
