Professional Engineering Management Position

The City of New Orleans is seeking a professional engineer to direct and evaluate all activities for major multiple engineering divisions. This role involves planning, directing, and evaluating the activities of multiple engineering divisions in the design, construction, and operation of a public works system. The position requires assigning and reviewing the work of lower level professional, technical, and/or administrative supervisors.

It also includes establishing and monitoring management controls for assigned operational areas and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to department operations where applicable; and related work as required.

The minimum qualifications for this position include registration as a professional engineer in Louisiana and nine years of engineering experience as a professional engineer. At least four of these years must have included supervisory responsibilities, and at least five years must have been in the area of sewer, water, drainage, and/or power infrastructure systems. For promotional purposes, permanent status with the City of New Orleans at a pay grade equal or higher than 96 and four years of exempt level professional engineering experience are required, with at least four years of supervisory responsibilities.
