Kind of work
Under general supervision, implement specific recreational events, activities and programs. Work includes coordinating and training subordinate and volunteer staff assigned to their program; and performing a variety of administrative duties. Work also includes disseminating program information to individuals, groups and the general public; and meeting with neighborhood and community groups to plan for special events and identify recreation program needs and related duties as

Minimum qualifications
Either: a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with with a major in recreation, parks administration, leisure activities, health, physical education, fine arts, or performing arts or related field
* and six (6) months of full time paid work experience.
Or: a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with in any field
* and six (6) months of full time experience in recreation event planning, the recruitment and coordination of volunteer staff, or in the coordination of recreational activities.
Or: high school diploma or ged
* and four (4) years of experience in the coordination of recreational programs or recreation management.
Or: permanent or probationary status as a recreation leader ii, recreation center assistant ii, or recreational site facilitator ii and two (2) years of experience in those classifications.
Supervisory experience is preferred.
Appropriate volunteer experience which can be documented by a recognized agency will be accepted at the rate of 40 hours of experience for each week of work. Applicants must submit a written statement from the volunteer agency specifying the number of hours worked and describing the duties of the job.

If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
This position requires a one (1) year probationary period.
Kind of examination
A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.

Domicile requirements for employment:domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application. Domicile requirements for employment (sewerage and water board):
Domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application.
