The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join our team as Probation and Parole Officer-Juvenile. This role plays a critical part in promoting public safety, reducing recidivism, and supporting the successful rehabilitation of justice-involved youth through professional supervision, guidance, and intervention strategies.

This position is responsible for collaborating closely with judges, law enforcement agencies, and community-based organizations to provide services and supervision for juveniles.

Minimum qualifications include three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR six years of full-time experience in any field; OR a bachelor's degree. Experience substitution is available. Necessary special requirements include possession of a current Louisiana driver's license and willingness and ability to complete the Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum.

Job duties include coordinating care, treatment, and community supervision services for youth across a multi-parish region, conducting risk and SAVRY assessments, maintaining regular contact with youth, families, and providers, serving as secondary case manager for youth assigned to secure-care facilities, identifying community resources, developing, monitoring, and submitting Individual Service Plans, preparing court-related documentation, participating in Administrative and Judicial Reviews, monitoring programs for compliance, maintaining case records/data, and assisting with audits and emergency response.

Position-specific details include work location at the New Orleans Regional Office in New Orleans, Louisiana, appointment type as full-time, probational, and career progression as Probation and Parole Officer 1, 2, or 3 (Juvenile) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. Compensation includes a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level.
