This role is part of a team that performs market and customer research, economic modeling and analysis on subjects that have key implications for ETR's long-term growth. Examples of such subjects include trends in the utility industry at-large, trends in Entergy's electric utility load, the makeup of Entergy's customers, and the commercial environments impacting customers. The team also provides project support for ETR's business development efforts.
This role will serve as the primary liaison for ETR data insights for market intelligence studies encompassing both internal and 3rd party information across focus customer segments. The role will be responsible for navigating complex, fragmented data environments to extract, sanitize, and interpret critical information. Your work will directly influence strategic decision-making for our energy portfolios.
- Complex Data Extraction & Integration:
Navigate multiple legacy and modern systems (CIS, MDM, GIS, and Billing) to identify relevant data points. Write advanced SQL queries to join disparate tables across different schemas. - Data Wrangling & Quality Assurance:
Lead the "clean-up" of inaccurate or incomplete datasets. Utilize Python or SQL to identify outliers, handle missing values, and normalize data. - Load & Demand Analysis:
Analyze historical load profiles to identify patterns, peaks, and anomalies. Translate raw interval data into actionable insights for resource planning. - B2B Customer Segmentation:
Develop sophisticated segmentation models for B2B clients based on consumption behavior, industry codes (NAICS/SIC), and volatility metrics to support targeted decision making. - Domain Translation:
Act as a bridge between technical IT teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that data outputs reflect the physical realities of the grid and energy markets.
Minimum Education and Experience is required of the position Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
7+ years of professional experience in data analysis specifically within the Utility, IPP (Independent Power Producer), or Renewable Energy sectors.
Education:
Degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent work experience).
Analytical Mindset:
Proven ability to "detective" your way through inaccurate data and find the "source of truth."
Communication:
Ability to explain complex data discrepancies to non-technical business leaders.
Technical Requirements
Advanced SQL:
Mastery of complex joins, window functions, and CTEs. Ability to optimize queries for large-scale utility datasets is critical.
Programming:
Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Num Py) for data manipulation and automated cleaning scripts.
Utility Domain Expertise: A fundamental understanding of what utility data represents is critical.
Systems Knowledge:
Experience working with Utility-specific systems such as SAP IS-U, Oracle Utilities, or Meter Data Management (MDM) platforms is beneficial.
