RN - PACU

This position is for a travel RN in the PACU at AYA-Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. The shift is from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM, with five shifts per week for a total of 40 scheduled hours. The assignment starts on 08/03/2026 and ends on 11/02/2026, lasting 13 weeks.

The candidate must be comfortable floating to pediatric PACU as needed. The unit supports all surgical/procedural populations except for those requiring critical care services. Special procedures include regional anesthesia and ECT. Nurses care for pre op, Phase I and Phase 2 recovery, pediatric and adult populations. The department provides pre/post op care to patients in a total of 34 OR's on two floors.

Special equipment includes a Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and Accuvein.

Preferred candidates will have background in PACU or Pre/Post Op experience. Required certifications include ACLS, BCLS, and PALS. The COVID-19 and flu vaccines are required with medical/religious exemptions only. The facility does not accept local travelers and requires candidates to be over 65 miles from the site address. Must have 2 years of experience in specialty for all locations, with 3 years required for the New Orleans operating room.

No call in is required, and RTO must be on the profile and discussed during the interview.

AHA certifications are required, and AWHONN Intermediate is required for L&D RNs. CPI is required for all CNAs and ER nurses, with the latter needing it before starting. NURSYS reports for RNs must be sent with the profile and kept up to date. Resources who worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from Ochsner Health System for 1 full year before returning as travel.

Orientation is held five days a week, and modules are billable and completed during orientation. Modules are recorded via the facility.
