River Oaks Hospital (a UHS affiliated hospital), located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).
River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Nurse Educator/Employee Health (RN). Responsible for facilitating and coordinating facility-wide, new employee orientation and annual training updates. Maintains compliance with the guidelines and standards of TJC, other regulatory agencies, and UHS. Serves as the Administrator for the Facilities Learning Management System, Health Stream. Serve as the facility's liaison with local colleges/nursing students.
Develops, implements, and participates in customer service and staff training program initiatives related to River Oaks Hospital. Provides monthly documentation and accountability reporting to management as associated regulatory agencies. Performs duties in accordance with River Oaks mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Experience:
Minimum one year of experience in healthcare required. Mental health experience preferred. Prior clinical experience and recent psychiatric nursing experience is preferred. - Education:
Bachelor's in Social Services, Psychology, Nursing, or related field required. - Licensure/Certification:
Active and unencumbered Licensure and registration by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
Working Knowledge:
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to present information and ideas essential to Staff Training.
- Investigative interviewing methods and techniques; crisis intervention techniques; and federal, state and local ordinances and policies regarding abuse, neglect and related patient rights issues.
- Process of general office environment.
Essential Technical/Motor
Skills:
- Computer software and keyboard proficiency, ability to operate various types of office equipment such as copier, scanner, and fax machines, phone systems, etc. required.
- Must be able to bend, lift, and reach office supplies and files.
Interpersonal
Skills:
- Must be able to communicate successfully, both orally and written, to a variety of internal and external customers, while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor.
Essential
Physical Requirements:
- Physical agility to manage patients. Ability to push, pull and lift to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
- Sitting for periods of time, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, and kneeling to perform routine office functions, ability to lift to 30 lbs.
