Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to patients/residents by assisting with personal hygiene, daily living activities, comfort measures, ambulation, and vital sign monitoring. Working under the guidance of a Licensed Nurse, the CNA plays a key role in delivering comprehensive health services and ensuring patient safety and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Current CNA certification in good standing.
  • 1 year of recent experience
  • Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and infection control.
  • Ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate care.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care & Hygiene
    • Assist patients with bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaving.
    • Help patients travel to the bathroom and provide support for showers and baths.
  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
    • Serve meals and assist with feeding as necessary.
    • Support ambulation, turning, and positioning of patients.
    • Provide fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Adjunct Care
    • Administer enemas, douches, nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths.
    • Apply restraints as directed.
  • Monitoring & Documentation
    • Check vital signs and weight; perform urine testing.
    • Record and document intake and output in appropriate forms and electronic medical records.
    • Perform capillary blood glucose monitoring.
  • Patient Comfort & Support
    • Transport patients and respond promptly to call lights and requests.
    • Report observations of patient condition to nursing supervisor.
    • Provide emotional support and comfort measures.
  • Compliance & Confidentiality
    • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
    • Follow hospital policies, procedures, and professional standards.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as The Joint Commission standards.
  • Special Assignments
    • Provide one-to-one observation, including virtual observation, as required.
