Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to patients/residents by assisting with personal hygiene, daily living activities, comfort measures, ambulation, and vital sign monitoring. Working under the guidance of a Licensed Nurse, the CNA plays a key role in delivering comprehensive health services and ensuring patient safety and well-being.
Qualifications:
- Current CNA certification in good standing.
- 1 year of recent experience
- Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and infection control.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate care.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care & Hygiene
- Assist patients with bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaving.
- Help patients travel to the bathroom and provide support for showers and baths.
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Serve meals and assist with feeding as necessary.
- Support ambulation, turning, and positioning of patients.
- Provide fresh water and nourishment between meals.
- Adjunct Care
- Administer enemas, douches, nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths.
- Apply restraints as directed.
- Monitoring & Documentation
- Check vital signs and weight; perform urine testing.
- Record and document intake and output in appropriate forms and electronic medical records.
- Perform capillary blood glucose monitoring.
- Patient Comfort & Support
- Transport patients and respond promptly to call lights and requests.
- Report observations of patient condition to nursing supervisor.
- Provide emotional support and comfort measures.
- Compliance & Confidentiality
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow hospital policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as The Joint Commission standards.
- Special Assignments
- Provide one-to-one observation, including virtual observation, as required.
