American Traveler is hiring an experienced Surgical ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of SICU experience and Epic proficiency.
Details- Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Every other weekend required
- Potential floating to other ICUs and step-down units
- No call-in requirement
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon consideration
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical ICU setting required
- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring including CVP and CRRT required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, post cardiac surgery, and pre/post cardiac cath intervention required
- IV therapy experience including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management required
- Experience with drip titration required
- Experience with chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Preferred experience with liver, kidney, pancreas, or heart transplant recovery
- Preferred experience in high acuity ICU, LVAD/RVAD, and lung transplant recovery
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
- Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to start (Charge RNs not acceptable)
- Provide direct nursing care to complex surgical ICU patients including post-cardiac surgery and transplant recovery cases
- May be assigned to an emergency response team requiring extended on-site presence during facility emergencies
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 designated holiday periods:
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's - Orientation held five days a week
- Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Local candidates are not accepted
- RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- Previous Ochsner Health employees (permanent staff or in-house agency) must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
