Position: CHILD WELFARE SPECIALIST TRAINEE/1/2/3 (LAFAYETTE REGION)

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following: three years of experience in child welfare; six years of full-time work experience in any field; or a bachelor's degree. Experience substitution is available for college credits. A high school diploma or equivalent, a current driver's license, and access to a personal vehicle are also required.

Note:

The incumbent must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).

Job Duties and Other Information

Job duties include conducting investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect, supporting staff, gathering and documenting case information, and making referrals to community resources. The position is a job appointment within the Child Welfare Specialist Trainee/1/2/3 career progression group, based on experience. Compensation varies by level:
Child Welfare Specialist Trainee - SER: $1,649.60 bi-weekly, Child Welfare Specialist 1 - SER: $1,764.80 bi-weekly, Child Welfare Specialist 2 - SER: $1,820.80 bi-weekly, Child Welfare Specialist 3 - SER: $1,948.00 bi-weekly. The department conducts drug tests, criminal background checks, State Central Registry checks, and Louisiana State Police Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry checks. A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are required.
