Tutor, Elementary School, Special Needs ​/ Learning Disabilities

In coordination with Rolling Hills Local Schools, the East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a tutor for the after school program at Cedar Ridge. Tutors work with students to provide educational support in reading and mathematics by using a variety of techniques including hands-on activities, technology, field trips and small group instruction to build upon the lessons taught in the traditional classroom setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Valid Ohio license or permit appropriate for the assignment

* Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment

* Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred

Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are representative of performance expectations, but are not considered all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as necessary. * Creates and implements lesson plans that include reading and math development, character development, physical activity, and enrichment activities

* Tutors small groups of students to develop their cognitive abilities and improve upon their academic skills

* Works to build student self-esteem and motivation through positive reinforcement

* Collaborates with school staff to develop positive relationships with students and align learning strategies with academic goals

* Prepares and implements enrichment activities in coordination with the 21st Century Site Coordinator

* Provides a positive learning environment for students requiring flexibility and patience

* Analyzes student performance and provides reports on student progress

* Meets with parents and/or student's teacher as needed
