JOB DESCRIPTION
Atlantic Health is seeking a dedicated Exercise Physiologist II to join our past‑paced outpatient cardiac rehab program in our New Providence location. The candidate will have experience in cardiac rehab along with very strong clinical and patient interaction skills.
Principal AccountabilitiesThe Exercise Physiologist II will be responsible for the following:
- Completes initial assessments and treatment plan design of both outpatient cardiac rehab and Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Artery Disease patients.
- Provides supervision of low through high‑risk populations.
- Maintains appropriate exercise guidance within department to aid in optimal patient outcomes.
- Ability to identify abnormal signs and symptoms to provide safe and effective environment.
- Proficient understanding of appropriate physiological changes during cardiac rehab sessions.
- In‑Session ECG recognition and understanding when to elevate to next level of care.
- Provides risk factor education to patients and community.
- Collaborates with team on departmental outcome collection and improvement.
- Communicates effectively with other team members and medical staff to maximize patient success.
- Supervises training of Exercise Physiologist I and exercise physiology students.
- Reviews and approves all exercise prescriptions on new and active patients.
- Assures patients are appropriately progressing their level of function for optimal care and quality.
- Updates and educates team members on individualized exercise programming/parameters and other relevant exercise physiology principles.
- May be responsible for other potential projects and collaborations with the Cardiovascular Service line or community.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology
- 5 years or more cardiac rehab experience
Or
- 3 years or more cardiac rehab experience with ACSM‑CEP
- Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field with 2+ years cardiac rehab experience
- ACSM‑Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM‑CEP)
- BLS, ACLS
