Entry-Level Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented entry-level accountant to join a finance team in New York. This position supports daily accounting operations by helping maintain accurate financial records, assisting with period-end activities, and contributing to reporting and compliance efforts. The role is well suited to someone early in their accounting career who is analytical, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities:

• Record banking activity and complete timely reconciliations to verify accuracy across cash accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes through journal entry preparation, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Track accruals and prepaid expenses while maintaining organized supporting schedules for recurring accounting activity.
• Review financial results and investigate variances within income statement and balance sheet accounts to help ensure reliable reporting.
• Follow established accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies in day-to-day finance work.
• Compile documentation and supporting schedules for external audit requests and other compliance-related reviews.
• Prepare sales tax filings and assist with additional tax reporting obligations as required.
• Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis, cross-functional assignments, and other accounting tasks based on business needs.
