DescriptionOver the past several years, the Honors Program has experienced substantial growth and complexity, including an incoming cohort exceeding 200 students, implementation of a revised Honors curriculum, expansion of service-learning, experiential learning, and leadership requirements, increased assessment and reporting requirements, and growing collaboration with faculty, academic departments, and community partners.
As a result, a significant portion of the Director's time is devoted to operational administration, student record management, scheduling coordination, communications, and program logistics. The Part-Time Honors Program Coordinator provides essential operational and administrative support to ensure the efficient functioning of the Honors Program and a high-quality student experience. By overseeing program operations, maintaining accurate records, coordinating communications, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, and managing logistical processes, the coordinator enables the Honors Program Director to focus on academic leadership, curriculum oversight, faculty engagement, student mentorship, strategic planning, and institutional partnerships.
The position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively across multiple university offices. Proficiency in MS Office, presentation, and other supportive software required.
- Support Honors recruitment and yield initiatives by coordinating communications with prospective and admitted students, maintaining applicant and enrollment records, assisting with selection and onboarding processes, and supporting Admissions-related events.
- Assist with Accepted Students events, orientation activities, and other recruitment and retention efforts designed to attract and engage high-achieving students.
- Coordinate Honors credit processes, including tracking eligibility for summer and winter Honors credit use, maintaining records of requests and approvals, communicating with Student Financial Services and the Registrar, and providing procedural guidance to students.
- Assist with scheduling and administration of Honors courses, including HON 350, HON 425, HON 450, and HON 475, by tracking faculty approvals, maintaining enrollment records, preparing Registrar submissions, monitoring enrollments, and communicating procedures to students.
- Support academic operations by maintaining records related to Honors policies, student eligibility, and program requirements.
- Monitor student progression and academic standing within the Honors Program and coordinate communications related to Academic Recovery processes, interventions, and referrals to appropriate campus resources.
- Assist in maintaining timely and accurate communications regarding program requirements, deadlines, opportunities, and student support services.
- Help ensure that students receive clear guidance regarding Honors policies, procedures, and curricular expectations.
- Coordinate and maintain records related to Honors student service-learning, community engagement, leadership development, and experiential learning opportunities throughout the Honors curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with academic Deans, Department Chairs, the Community Partner Liaison, the Office of Mission and Ministry, and other campus partners to support student placements, experiential learning opportunities, community-based projects, and leadership initiatives.
- Assist in tracking student participation and completion of Honors service, leadership, and experiential learning requirements, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication with students and faculty mentors.
- Support the administration of the Honors culminating experience by coordinating student placements, tracking project milestones and requirements, maintaining records of approvals and completions, and facilitating communication among students, faculty advisors, and campus partners.
- Maintain databases and assessment records related to experiential learning, service engagement, leadership activities, and community partnerships to support program assessment, student success initiatives, and institutional reporting.
- Coordinate logistical and operational details associated with community-engaged learning, leadership programming, and other high-impact educational practices embedded within the Honors curriculum.
