Bilingual School Psychologist
The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Bilingual School Psychologist to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success of students. The Bilingual School Psychologist plays a critical role in evaluation, intervention, counseling, and consultation, while partnering with educators, families, and community providers to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesConsultation & Collaboration
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and service providers to address student needs
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams (e.g., MTSS, CST, CSE, 504)
- Provide staff consultation and professional development on interventions, behavior strategies, and social-emotional supports
- Maintain consistent communication with families and outside providers
Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive psycho educational evaluations for initial referrals and reevaluations
- Administer and interpret cognitive, academic, and social-emotional assessments
- Develop clear, comprehensive reports and present findings to families and teams
- Coordinate and integrate outside evaluations as needed
Counseling & Student Support
- Provide individual and group counseling (mandated and short-term)
- Support students with social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs
- Deliver SEL-based interventions and classroom supports
- Monitor student progress and maintain service documentation
Crisis Intervention
- Respond to student crises and conduct risk assessments
- Develop safety plans
- Participate in re-entry plans
- Collaborate with families, staff, and external agencies during crises
- Provide follow-up support and monitoring
Special Education & 504 Responsibilities
- Participate in and/or chair CSE and Section 504 meetings
- Develop IEPs and 504 plans and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Follow evaluation timelines, services, and required documentation
- Support staff in implementing student plans and accommodations
Data & MTSS Support
- Use data to inform decision-making and intervention planning
- Participate in MTSS/problem-solving teams
- Monitor progress toward goals and adjust supports as needed
- Assist in developing behavior plans (FBA/BIP)
School-Wide & Preventative Supports
- Contribute to SEL programming and positive behavior initiatives
- Support a positive school climate and student well-being
- Provide classroom and school-wide interventions
Family & Community Engagement
- Partner with families through consultation and resource sharing
- Connect families to community supports and services
- Assist with transition planning and external referrals
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely records, reports, and logs
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and confidentiality laws
- Prepare documentation for meetings and audits (if applicable)
Professional Responsibilities
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Participate in school and district initiatives
NYS Certification is required at time of application
