Under the general direction of the Economic Development Director performs economic development and administrative support activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB- Prepares reports, correspondence, memorandum, schedules, minutes, requisitions, public hearing notices, statistical data, technical narratives, charts, and tables.
- Assist in the administration of economic development programs operated by the Economic Development Authority (EDA).
- Engages in community outreach for the City in response to directives from supervisor.
- Assists with marketing programs provided by the EDA.
- Provides basic information relative to economic development programs.
- Gather information and prepares reports for EDA meetings.
- Answer telephone and walk-in inquiries or direct to appropriate staff, prepare written correspondence and maintain accurate records.
- Conducts surveys, collects data and analyzes prevailing practices of other communities.
- Conducts research to gather data on statistics and demographics for internal and external use.
- Assists in the research, preparation, and writing associated with grant applications and other similar documents.
- Files paperwork and maintains electronic and paper files.
- Verify income and perform credit checks.
- Maintain office supplies.
- Adhere to all work policies and safety practices and attend required training.
- Performs other related functions as assigned.

- Knowledge of and ability to conduct basic survey formation, data collection, and analysis.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform the activities associated with conducting basic research.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with employees, supervisors, appointed officials, and the general public.
- Knowledge of and ability to efficiently operate a personal computer using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and other software used in housing operations.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
- Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously and within established time constraints.
- Ability to be sensitive to cultural differences and language barriers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local regulations.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Two years of university, community college, business, vocational schooling preferred.
- Two years experience involving administrative clerical work.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work frequently sitting and speaking or hearing and occasionally requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, night vision and peripheral vision;
vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities;
work occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, pets, weapons in the home and second hand smoke; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
