The New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Firefighters. This is a rewarding opportunity to serve your community by responding to fires, rescues, medical emergencies, and other incidents while participating in regular training and maintaining firefighting equipment.
Volunteer firefighters receive $15 per emergency call (paid annually) and earn an $8,000 pension credit for each year of service. Members become vested after 10 years and can earn up to $160,000 after 20 years of service. Members must respond to at least 45% of fire calls and attend 65% of meetings and training sessions.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid driver's license, and reside within a 10-minute drive of the New Ulm Fire Station.
