As an advanced practice provider in the New Ulm Emergency Department, you will work alongside a team of ED physicians and have support from a wide variety of specialties. You will have 24/7 access to system service lines such as mental health, cardiology, neurology, and pediatrics. The ED sees 9.5k visits annually and has 11 beds, and is a LevelIV trauma center, stroke‑ready.
KeyPosition Details
Pick up two shifts per month. Standard shift hours:
Sunday evening and Monday‑Thursday daytime. Additional shifts on weekends during surge season and vacation coverage may be available.
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments to determine diagnosis and treatment.
- Order and interpret medical diagnostics in tandem with an attending physician.
- Prescribe medications, treatments, therapy, and medical equipment.
- Provide patient education and consult with physician teammates when the patient's needs are outside of scope.
- Promote communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health‑care staff and act as a resource to team members.
- Act as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited physician assistant program or nurse practitioner program.
- ED/Urgent Care experience required to be casual.
- New graduates may be considered.
- Experience in family practice, internal medicine, urgent or emergency care.
- Licenses/Certifications:
Certification as Physician Assistant – NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire. - Certification as Certified Nurse Practitioner – American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) required upon hire.
- BLS Tier 1 – Basic Life Support – Multisource required within 180 days.
- Drug Enforcement Administration certification required upon hire.
Medium. Work involves lifting up to 32lbs occasionally and 25lbs frequently.
Pay Range$141,731 to $155,896 per year. Starting rate depends on factors such as experience, education, and union agreement.
