Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift position at a critical access hospital, requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and MN RN licensure.

Details
  • Labor and Delivery unit within a critical access, Level 4 trauma hospital with 19 staffed beds
  • LDRP setting caring for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients
  • Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Patient ratios:
    Days 1:3, Nights 1:2-3, Weekends 1:2-3
  • Average daily census of 1-2 patients
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend, with flexibility to every third weekend considered
  • No on-call requirements
  • May float outside OB scope to assist with mental health patient monitoring or provide support such as vital signs, toileting, and repositioning on medical/surgical units
  • No patient assignment responsibilities outside the OB unit
  • Uses Epic (Excellian) charting system
Requirements
  • Active or pending Minnesota RN license required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in fetal heart monitoring (FHM) and IV starts
  • Competency in caring for all aspects of labor and delivery including triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Experience with high-risk delivery assistance and Magnesium Sulfate therapy preferred
  • 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across all phases of labor and delivery, including triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, fetal monitoring, and medication administration such as Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate
  • Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and newborn assessments
  • May be asked to float to support patient safety monitoring or basic care needs outside the OB unit
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Returning staff must have a 3-month gap since their last shift worked in a per diem or staff role
  • RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days during the assignment
  • Facility does not provide references for travelers post-assignment or for those who previously worked as permanent staff
