Accounting Manager​/Supervisor

Description

Global Non Profit organization is hiring a skilled and motivated Accounting Manager to join their team in Manhattan, NY. This position plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the organization's mission. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in nonprofit accounting, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining accurate and efficient financial processes.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise and mentor a team of two staff accountants, guiding their work in accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.

- Ensure compliance with established accounting policies and internal controls, while identifying opportunities for process improvements.

- Review and manage monthly expense reports, ensuring proper coding and allocation to departments, projects, grants, and funding sources.

- Coordinate with international offices to reconcile monthly expense submissions and maintain accurate records.

- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.

- Assist in the creation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

- Support year-end closing procedures and audit preparation, including Form 990 filings.

- Collaborate with program teams on budget tracking, grant reporting, and forecasting expenditures.

- Review and approve journal entries and monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

- Respond to inquiries from staff regarding financial matters and handle additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

- Accounting/Finance Degree

- 5+ years Accounting/Auditing background

- International Non-Profit experience preferred, will also consider Domestic Non-Profit or International Accounting experience
