Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New York, New York. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in reconciliations, month-end close processes, and journal entries. The position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of the organization while leveraging your expertise in accounting systems and tools.

Responsibilities:

- Perform comprehensive bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Prepare and post journal entries with precision and attention to detail.

- Support month-end close processes by gathering financial data and preparing reports.

- Collaborate with the team to identify and resolve discrepancies in the general ledger.

- Utilize Workday Financial Management systems to streamline accounting tasks and processes.

- Apply advanced Microsoft Excel skills to analyze financial data and create detailed reports.

- Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned by management.

- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and practices within a non-profit organization setting.

- Maintain organized financial records for audits and internal reviews. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.

- Proficiency in performing journal entries and managing general ledger activities.

- Hands-on experience with Workday Financial Management systems is highly preferred.

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis tools.

- Strong skills in account and bank reconciliations.

- Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices is an advantage.

- Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
