Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a non-profit organization in New York, New York. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to support core accounting operations and contribute to a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on accounting experience, adapts quickly to new priorities, and is comfortable managing a variety of financial tasks with accuracy and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records across daily accounting activities.
• Perform account and bank reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and ensuring balances are properly supported.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions while helping maintain timely and accurate reporting.
• Assist with fixed asset tracking, updates, and related accounting documentation.
• Contribute to month-end close by supporting schedules, balance reviews, and other closing deliverables.
• Partner with team members on assigned projects and provide accounting support as operational needs evolve.
• Use Net Suite and Microsoft Excel to organize data, analyze account activity, and complete routine accounting work.
