Senior Accountant - Fringe Forecasting & Pension Accounting

Overview We are looking for a Senior Accountant for our client on a project basis. This role is hybrid out of New York City, NY. Responsibilities Support preparation of the annual budget for an approximately $1 billion fringe benefits pool, including health and welfare, retirement, union, and other employee benefit expenses. Calculate fringe recoveries/revenue, taxes, union costs, and related expenses in accordance with budget assumptions, government regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.

Analyze health and welfare, retirement, and pension projections provided by actuaries and incorporate them into forecasting and financial models. Maintain and update fringe benefit and pension budgets within financial systems and budgeting modules. Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations and analysis of fringe recoveries, benefit expenses, pension accounts, and related financial activity. Prepare and record adjustments and journal entries to support accurate month-end and quarter-end financial close.

Analyze variances and ensure accurate expense projections, recoveries, and budget controls. Support pension accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and reconciliation activities. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies related to pension, fringe benefits, and employee benefit activity. Prepare quarterly management reporting related to fringe benefits and pension activity. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or other related fields 5+ years of relevant financial statement preperation and accounting operations experience Qualified applicants must reside in the continental U.S. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future.
